RI Monthly’s Insider’s Guide to RI mobile app, developed by Brave River Solutions, earned the Mobile Innovation award at the 2013 National City and Regional Magazine Awards competition.
Warwick, RI – May 30, 2013 – The Insider’s Guide to RI app from Rhode Island Monthly won the Mobile Innovation category at the 2013 National City and Regional Magazine Awards, held at the CRMA’s annual conference on May 20, 2013. Coordinated by the University of Missouri School of Journalism, the awards recognize excellence among city and regional magazines throughout North America.
The Insider’s Guide to RI is a web-based mobile app, built on Brave River Solutions’s Mobeo™ platform, that allows users to browse Rhode Island attractions, including restaurants, shopping venues, performance spaces, beaches, hotels and more. Using geolocation, the app is able to identify which points of interest are nearest to the user’s current location, and display a map to the selected destination. It provides a mobile supplement to Rhode Island Monthly magazine’s print edition of the Insider’s Guide, helping readers locate and learn more about the places they see in print.
As noted in the National City and Regional Magazine Awards presentation, the Insider’s Guide to RI “offers a tap-friendly, cleanly designed and welcoming user experience” that delivers “valuable information about the state.” Brave River Solutions worked closely with Rhode Island Monthly to design the app in such a way that made it easy for users to navigate, with intuitive menus and large, easy-to-click icons.
